How is the new ''Social Media'' phenomenon is affecting our life - 1081100604

Social Media, i believed, that everyone of us would have known about it Very well especially teenagers and young adult, as well as the elders and younger generation. ''Facebook'' is the most popular topic nowadays as you can see we can actually know ''everything'' via facebook, included the latest news which they can actually share it in the Facebook, songs, photos, friends updates, online shop in Facebook, Facebook games and etc. There are a lot more which is almost uncountable. Beside Facebook, they use also Twitter, Blog and so on.

So, what is social media? For what I understand, Social media is the media or network that connecting us together no matter where are you from, who you are and helps in our communication. The best way to define social media is to break it down. Media is an instrument on communication, like a newspaper or a radio, so social media would be a social instrument of communication.

From the video below, I have understand that Social media can actually spread so widely and rapidly among the people and let the people to make use of it.

How is Social Media affect us? We use Facebook everyday, that sometime we can hardly to stop using it even a day, without Facebook, it's like the end of the world. We can actually get to know the latest news from the Facebook but not from the news online or newspaper. Beside that, we can chat to our friends through Facebook without using the messenger and for the latest news that we can have video chat via facebook. As you can see the Facebook is so much powerful that it can almost control people everyday life.

Anyhow, even though we know that Facebook giving us so much of benefits, but without wise use of it, it will turn out the other side. For example, there are some people that use Facebook for improper use. They hacked Facebook users account by using some kind of application to get the password and from that they can get others details such as phone number, address and so on, and the victim might be facing problem from that. There are people who sign up Facebook account using others name and photo to cheat on girls try to date the girls out and commit crime vise versa. There are latest news where a  Schoolgirl Rakes in RM30,000 by Offering Sex Via Facebook.

    You are definitely true, we must not expose too much of our personal details in facebook. Many people use facebook as if it is oxygen. Without facebook, some people will feel suffocating. But is it true? Have you try not to use facebook for sometimes and see how your life change? I can't deny it's power and the convenience it could provide. But, it is just an application, its' function is to help us but not to turn us to become a slave of an application that is without blood and heart. Don't over depends on it. There are so many interesting things and people outside this world, go to explore it. Live real life but not in virtual life only.

    You are true on the negative side. Many people seems to misuse social media as a way of showing off or offering illegal services, but this not only limit to facebook, the blogs as well.
    Recently, with the rising heat from iphone 4, there is a girl posting in her blog saying that she will offer her virginity to anyone that can buy her an iphone 4.
    This is what some people use social media for nowadays.
