Week 8 -Do you trust news on the internet? by chuah sze nee

I don't really trust news on the internet. There are so many rumours that can be spread on the internet to make people scare or make a fool on someone. The tool that often used is the email. People used email to spread fake news to users of gmail, hotmail and etc. This is because emails can be sent many times without the need to identify yourself. A lot of cheaters use this method, they will ask you for help, telling you to donate and etc. I always get emails, so called junk mails like the above situation.

Example of aking for help email, with the title -a cry for help.
Above is from my experience. Now, the other news that got from the internet few months back is the rumour of fake eggs in Malaysia. It has also been publish on the local newspapers as well.

And now, the test shows that the fake eggs are real ones. Below is the news taken from New Straits Times.

So, we have to judge on our own first before trusting them.

  1. Agree with you and I have seen the fake eggs video too. And trusted it when the news broadcasted through the newspaper and also the TV. And me too receive a lot of junk email where some of it brings also virus that will affect the computer. Therefore we also have to be careful when reading the email.

  2. Talking about email, yeah, nowadays there are many email from the so-called bank asking 'their' account owner to update information through the link they send. But the link is actually a phishing link, if the account owner keys in their information, the thief will steal their password and so on. Then the thief will use it to withdraw their money. So, remember, only login through the bank's official website. Normally some bank will warn their customers using message in their website. But still, many people have became a victim.

  3. I saw the fake eggs news sometime ago, and I really thought it was real. But after that I realized it was fake because there is no way that China was able to produce fake eggs when the world's scientist couldn't do....
