Week 7: Are bloggers journalists? 1092701286

As the technologies are fast growing in our society now, many boundaries had been broken and things combined together to make a better living for people these days. For example, talented musician now do not need to be in the music industry in-order to produce a music to be shared to distributed throughout countries as Youtube, Google, Blogs and Facebook had done them a favor. But the debate on whether Bloggers and Journalist should be categorized as the same thing, i personally think otherwise.

To me, Journalist is a person that had been qualified by a company so that he or she can be paid for what they wrote with factual opinion and professional judging standard. While on the other hand, Blogger's age can be ranged from as young as 8 years old to an old citizen as long as you know how to operate a computer that have internet. Bloggers do not need to had a qualification in order to post a blog on the internet, and that is why some blog does not have a proper written grammar and issue. All things can be posted through the blog and it is up to the viewer to decide whether they wan to agree upon what they see an whether they wanted to follow what the following issue posted by the blogger in future.

Ironically, how many "factual" issue written by the journalist can be trusted as journalist get paid by writing an issue demanded by their company. As time passes, we get to realize that some journalist too are standing in a perspective as wrote an article, and that is why viewer have to take an alternative way to get the current news through a less proper media source to get a clearer view of what is happen around the world right now.

Although i said that blogger and journalist should not be categories together, however, some talented bloggers who can blog about an issue which sparks debate among people of different status should be acknowledged. For example Raghava Gongidi who wrote "AS I LOOK BACK" gets a lot of feed back from viewers as Gongidi review what is happening in India.

As a conclusion, i still insist that bloggers and journalist should not be categories as the same but i do think that blogger who are good deserved to be credited.

  1. I agree with you that blogger and journalist should not be categorised together as I also think that they are both different. Most of the time, blogger writes according to their own style, with or without proper grammar, base on their readers' needs. However, to fit the society, a journalist must write properly for everyone's understanding. And journalist has to write about what really happen, unlike blogger, they can share their thoughts or their fantasy to their readers. There are very big different among bloggers and jounalist.

  2. You're right, me too agree on your point. Blogger and journalist is totally different. Journalist analyse the fact with professional way in order to fulfill the requirement for it is their job. In the other hand, blogger is merely sharing their own thoughts on a certain issues. They can also give professional view but it is for their self express. Thus, in my opinion, blogger should not be categorized as journalist.
