From my point of view, I think that social media is a media which is able to let people interact with their friends, family, relatives and so on. Besides communicate, Social media is also use for sharing, such as photos, videos, personal thoughts, and even news. The social media that I use most frequently are Facebook and Youtube. Each media has different usage. Like Facebook, it's for social networking and youtube is for video sharing.
Firstly, Facebook is one of the most powerful tools in the world. It's not just a tool to let people from different countries and continent to know each other, the most powerful thing is once a thing is share on Facebook, almost whole world will receive the message. Example, recent most famous issue, which is "Bersih" protest, me who never read newspaper, some of my friends who didn't see any news, we all know about the protest action through Facebook. Or previously, everyone knew about the cut-hair bully issue through Facebook too.
Besides Facebook, Youtube is also a good social media use for sharing. As we know, Youtube is a video sharing website, videos posted on youtube might affect somebody's life, or even certain issue. For Example, here's the video which rise some issues.
This video alone destroy a little of KFC's reputation. Now my friends and I are afraid to go KFC as we afraid that KFC around us got workers like that.
If these 2 social media mix together, the power will be almost unlimited. One of the famous music composer, Wee Ming Chee, with the popilar nickname Namewee, make use of social media very well. Years ago, he started to use Youtube to share the songs he composed.

About a year ago, he uses combination of Youtube and Facebook, to spread the news that he's going to make a 1 Malaysia film and ask for loan from government. It was successfully caught the attention of people throughout Malaysia.

After watching the videos, I can't wait to see the film he produce. Since he declare that he will produce one 1Malaysia film, every video he posted about the progress always caught my attention.
All in all, social media is a powerful tool that use to share personal thoughts. It can be used for good deeds and bad deeds. As social media already become a part of our life, all the news can spread very fast and easily.
I agree with Yui Huan because what he said is similar to what I said in my post. Facebook has helped me know world news even though I don't read newspapers anymore. Its a great way to spread information in a short amount of time with any boundaries.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. social media is a powerful tool use to share thoughts. I also a Facebook frequent user. I often get news from Facebook so that I don't need to go buy a newspaper to know whats happening outside. It really help me a lot. Social media helps to spread things fast and without boundary.
ReplyDeleteMe too agree with you Yui Huan, without the Social media as a tool, many things cannot be done and beside that, from social media we can know more about things to be aware of and etc. For example, through social media such as facebook, we can know about the truth instead of other sources that have been filtered.
